Since forming the band in school, Enter Shikari have played well over 1000 live shows and sold out numerous prestigious venues worldwide such as London Astoria, Brixton Academy, Hammersmith Apollo, New York’s Irving Plaza and LA’s Roxy; and have played more big and small festivals than it would be possible to list fully, but includes such events as Download, Reading / Leeds, T in the Park, Glastonbury (UK), Rock Am Ring / Rock Im Park, Hurricane / Southside (Germany), Summersonic (Japan), Soundwave, Big Day Out (Australia) Warped Tour (North America / Europe / UK) and Coachella (USA).
Enter Shikari have released three full length studio albums; TAKE TO THE SKIES (2007), COMMON DREADS (2009) and A FLASH FLOOD OF COLOUR (2012) and have scored three UK Album Chart top 5 placings (most recently with A Flash Flood Of Colour reaching #1 in the midweek chart before eventually settling at a highly respectable #4 at week’s end). The band has also released a number of collections of remixes / b-sides / live tracks and full length live show albums through their own website, most of which are now long-deleted and fetching daft money on Ebay.
Fiercely independent, Enter Shikari releases appear in UK and Europe courtesy of their own AMBUSH REALITY label via PIAS Recordings; and via Hopeless Records in USA / Canada, Hostess Entertainment in Japan and Liberator in Australia / NZ. The band also took the step of promoting and financing two full UK tours themselves in 2011 / 2012.
The band has twice picked up Kerrang! Magazine’s ‘Best Live Band’ award, and their ‘Spirit Of Independence’ award also; earned an NME award for Musical Innovation; and won AIM’s ‘Best Album of 2012’ for A Flash Flood Of Colour and a 2013 AIM Award for ‘Best Live Band’.
The band spent a majority of 2013 touring the world, including their biggest UK festival show to date, headlining the second stage at Download Festival.
Amongst the touring, they found time to record three one-off singles; ‘The Paddington Frisk’ in April 2013, ‘Radiate’ in June, and ‘Rat Race’ in November to coincide with a run of European headline shows and Warped Tour Europe appearances, which ended with a headline show at London’s 10,000 capacity Alexandra Palace as part of Warped Tour UK.
In 2013, the band ALSO unveiled their ‘electronic alter-ego’ the Shikari Sound System. As well as producing remixes for the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Hacktivist and Kate Nash, the SSS headlined the ‘Rock Stage’ at 2013’s Reading & Leeds Festivals.
Writing and recording for album #4 will commence in early 2014.
