At the age of sixteen, while living in the Boston area, Elliot Oveson gained an interest in DJing through a friend of his. He was hooked instantly and soon after chose “Wushu” as his DJ name. He learned quickly, spinning at house parties through high school, and by age 20 he got his first solid gig at a local bar in Indiana.
A natural talent, he quickly gained a die-hard fan base thanks to his unique blends, quick hands, spontaneous decision-making and scratching skills that undeniably set him ahead of the game and resulted in his crowning as Indiana University’s Hip Hop Congress DJ Battle Champion in 2007.
While living in Indiana, DJ Wushu gained recognition on local radio stations WFHB and WIUS and opened for the legendary Hip-Hop collective, The Roots. He became the resident DJ at the Jungle Room in Bloomington and played a key role in initiating and growing the club’s weekly “Hip-Hop Night” which soon became the longest running event of its kind at IU.
Gaining momentum nationally, he has rocked crowds in Boston, Los Angeles, Hollywood, St.Louis, Reno, Bloomington, Minneapolis, Denver and Orange County, to name a few. DJ Wushu has a unique ability to cater to audiences of many genres including Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae, Dancehall, Electro, House, 80s, Baltimore Club and more. His style is distinct and one of a kind, and is universally recognized as a force to be reckoned with.
Now making Denver Colorado his home, DJ Wushu is ready to change the way Denverites party, crushing dancefloors with his original style and flavor.
