Bio
I have been playing music since I was a kid, but I never intended to write and perform my own songs. I wrote a couple songs when I was a teenager and ended up playing one of them for a college class, “song writing 101”. It was there I realized people liked the songs that I was writing.
A year later I was working for a record label (outlook music) and one day I had decided it wasn’t working, so that same day I quit. The next morning I got out of bed and asked myself “what were you thinking!” but after taking a shower and getting dressed my phone rang. It was the vice president of universal music offering me a job interview in New York. After I hung up from that call I received another basically offering to record my music for free. Well I didn’t take the job in New York, I knew that labels were dieing and working for Paris Hilton (direct to DVD videos, which is the job I was eventually offered) was not going to suit me. But three weeks later I found myself in a 1974 camper van, which I had named “Eleanor”, with two friends driving 12 hours to record some music.
After this extremely random experience I found myself playing shows and eventually coming to the point where I decided I’d like to do this full time. So that small story has led me here. I hope that you get the chance to hear dial tone, the record is truly beautiful and the instrumentation is just gorgeous.
Andrea Ball has been compared to St. Vincent, Lykke Li and Regina Spector. This record is beautifully arranged with sweeping melody lines and gorgeous string harmonies over sophisticated beats and great song writing.
