61 was formed in November of 2004 as a songwriting collaboration between Dan Narsete (vocals, guitar) and Melle Johnson (bass, vocals).

“I had this idea about contradicting the youth driven sentiment of popular music,” Narsete said. “When I met Melle I realized we were on the same page.”

“We are based in Denver, however my vision is global,” Narsete said. “I think people everywhere want help opening the doors of possibility in their lives. We all are consumed by different forces be it the vector of corporate mediocrity etc. Our music is about overcoming that and the people who help us do that.”
